Xbox - Fifa Football 2005 Vs Pro Evolution 4 Soccer
Xbox - Fifa Football 2005 Vs Pro Evolution 4 Soccer
The first thing to say is that both these games are very good with each having advantages over the other. Fifa Football 2005 is a huge improvement from its predecessor - Fifa 2004. Pro Evolution 4 is its first outing on Xbox and doesn't disappoint.
Graphics
Fifa Football wins this section. Fifa's graphics are very good and are better than Pro Evolution Soccer 4's. Players, kits and stadiums all look very good and can be picked out by even a non fanatics eye. Fifa 2005 wins this section.
Sound
Fifa also wins this section, the sound on Pro Evo 4 is poor and things are repeated even in a 30 second spell. Fifa's commentary is brilliant. I have played the game for well over 50 hours and i still hear new comments made by Ally McCoist the commentator.
Authenticity
Fifa wins this section as well. Pro Evolution 4 does not have all the teams as what they should be. For instance Chelsea are known as London Blue. Football fans like to choose there favourite players and teams and this option is a big let down in Pro Evolution 4. The players in Fifa 2005 are a lot more up to date as well, for instance Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen are at their new clubs Manchester United and Real Madrid respectively.
Fun
Pro Evolution wins this category, although it does not have the graphics, sound or authenticity Pro evolution is a great game. You find new ways of scoring and see different goals scored different ways. Fifa is quite 1 dimensional in the way it moves and performs.
Reward
Pro Evolution wins this section as well. The more you play Pro Evolution soccer the more you enjoy it. Its not an easy game to get used to, but once you learn the controls and how you play the game the reward is great. It feels and plays like a real football game. You have to break the defence down with patient and thoughtful football. Its not just a case of putting a through ball to an attacking player as in Fifa 2005.
Game play
The game play award goes to Pro Evolution Soccer 4 hands down. Its game play is absolutely superb. It cannot be beaten for realism and game play. The way the whole game plays, represents what a real match is like. It is very unlikely you will score the same goal twice in one match like Fifa Football 2005. You can score a goal from beating 3 players but its very unlikely you would do the same thing again in the next 5 matches as in real football. Players get tired and this is shown by not being able to control the ball as well. Good and fit players can control the ball instantly while poor and tired players will see the ball move away from then after their first touch.
Xbox Live
Fifa wins this section as the online play on Pro Evolution Soccer 4 is not good. Pro Evo suffers from very bad lag and spoils it immensely. The xbox Live play on Fifa is very good, with very little lag and an all round smooth experience.
Pro Evolution Soccer 4 V Fifa Football 2005 Conclusion
Both games are very good and it depends on what you are looking for in a game. If you are a real football fan and intend on playing the game a lot i would recommend Pro Evolution Soccer 4. The more you play this game the more you will enjoy it. Its realism and game play cannot and have not been bettered in any other football game.
If you are looking for an all round game and a game that plays well on Xbox Live i would recommend Fifa 2005. It is easier to get into and can be mastered in a lot less time that Pro Evo 4. Both games are very good though and you wont be disappointed in either if you choose to buy.
